Patricia Lawrence, ‘Rolling at Ocean Beach”

Patricia Lawrence, ‘Evening Light on the Marsh’

Patricia Lawrence

A longtime resident of the Sausalito waterfront, Patricia Lawrence has painted in her favorite medium, watercolors, for more than thirty-years.  She took numerous art classes while receiving her undergraduate degree at Bowling Green State University. She has a Master’s degree from UC Berkeley in Information Management.

Watercolors are an exciting medium for capturing our local Bay waters, coastal hills, and marsh shoreline.  Patricia’s watercolors emphasize light and shape in an intuitive response to the natural scene.

She visited China in 1982, and thereafter for many years, studied the Ling Nang school of Chinese brush painting at the San Francisco Chinese Cultural Center.  She has exhibited her brush paintings at several shows at the Chinese Cultural Center. The brushwork skills were transferred to watercolor painting by seeing it as the same concept as marks on the paper.

Patricia has studied under local Marin artists: Kay Russell, Jerry Stitt, and Connie Smith Siegel.
