Artist Statement
I have been involved in painting and photography for over 40 years. I always enjoyed the creative process since I was a small child. I enjoy painting the world around me so therefore many of my paintings are of landscapes and flowers. I paint mostly in watercolor, Acrylic and pastels.
I love to travel and I am a travel consultant. I take many photographs on our many trips throughout the world. I paint from these photographs and also do some plein air painting on trips when time permits.
For me painting is meditating. It is my quiet time to sit with myself and feel emotions- letting thoughts come and go. It is the celebration of life and a way to express my feelings for nature and the beauty of God’s world. Painting paths I’ve walked and places I have been keeps my memories alive and brings back the place, path or person to my mind.
Photography allows me the opportunity to share my travel experiences with others. I love all the diversity of sights and sounds and try to have my photographs reflect the joy I feel when I am traveling.
I have studied at the College of Marin. I have taken years of photography and art classes there with fabulous teachers. I have studied with Jackie Kirk, Connie Siegel, Carol Bacon, Judy North, Barbara Lawrence and Julie Cohn.
I have shown locally at The Marin Art and Garden Center, The Two Bird Café and San Geronimo Cultural Center.
I have served on the Board of the Marin Art and Garden Center for two years in the past. I am a docent for the Marin Artist Society.
